New Communication Methods

In an effort to improve our communication methods, the 20th Scouts are now using Social Media, in the form of Facebook and Twitter. Our Facebook page can be found here, and our Twitter profile here.

In addition to this, this website will shortly be replaced when the District launch their new website later this year.

If there are any other methods of communication you think we should be using and currently aren’t, please do let us know and we will consider them.

School Lets

As you will be aware, we have had some issues with the school let this year.

This was, for the most part, entirely out of our hands, but should now be rectified.

I am awaiting final confirmation, but we should be able to meet once again the week commencing the 3rd of October.

This means the first night of Beavers will be the 4th and the first night of Cubs and Scouts will be the 5th.

If anyone has any issues, please contact either the section leader, or Fisher.

Happy 2011

Hey guys, happy 2011 :D

Hope you all had a nice holiday, and we’ll see you all this week again.

Fisher.

This week’s meetings

As the schools are closed, we won’t be able to have our meetings this week.

Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Any questions, please contact me.

Forthcoming Scout Events

District Swimming Gala

For information about this event, please view the flyer here. If you’ve got any questions, please contact Sharon.

“Almost” Big Brother 2010

Dundee District will be running a Big Brother camp on the weekend of Friday 3rd – Sunday 5th December in the Carolina Lodge, Douglaswood.

There are 12 Housemate spaces available to Scouts aged between 12 and 14. Each of the 11 Troops will be asked to nominate 1 Scout as their representative. We will look at filling the 12th place from another district or maybe a “Wild Card” entry. Cost for this will be around £15.

More details will be put out to Section Leaders Early October, and we’ll keep you in touch.

Jamborette or the Internet

The Jamboree on the Internet is a World Scout event that takes place during the third weekend of October each year and previous events have seen us make contact with Scouts from over 75 countries, demonstrating the truly global reach of the Scout Movement.

There will be 5 different bases through the event with everyone having the opportunity to chat with Scouts and Guides from around the world as well as take part in technology, international, outdoor and first aid bases.

Cubs & Scouts – There will be a camp at Douglaswood Scout Centre from 7pm Friday 15th to 1pm Sunday 17th October. Cost is £20, which includes food & any staged badges earned, such as the IT Badge.
Beavers – There will be a session on Sat 16th from 12:15 – 17:00. Cost is £5 which includes any badge earned and lunch.

If you’re interested in going, please tell your section leader (Laura, Paul or Sharon) or Fisher before the October holidays.

Starting Back

Hey folks,

We’ll be starting back on the 7th and 8th of September – hopefully you’ll get a letter soon about that.

Look forward to seeing you there!

Fisher.

Summer holidays

Hope you all have a good holiday, and we’ll see you in September!

Please see an important letter here.

Upcoming Events

I’ve uploaded this week’s letters – click on “Letters” up the top.

We’re still looking for a Beaver Leader; so if there’s anyone you can think of that would be interested, please let me know!

We’re raring through our Development Plan, and I will be in touch soon about setting up a Group Executive, which some of you may be interested in joining.

I’ll also be in touch about our Group Partnership Award, which I think some of the leaders are quite excited about – it’s certainly something the group have never done!

Fisher.

Investiture with a difference!

Investing a Scout Leader is always a special occasion, but this one was doubly special for Sharon (pictured above) as she was invested with her own son, Cameron.
